The chairman, Ekiti State Sports Council, Hon. Olusola Osetoba has showered encomiums on the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi on the cash rewards given to the state athletes who won medals at the last National Sports Festival in Edo state.
Speaking from her base at Emure-Ekiti during the holiday, Hon. Osetoba said the financial reward was timely and could not have come at a better time.
She described governor Fayemi as the people’s governor who feels the pulse of his people adding that the cash rewards was a worthy morale booster and an ideal way to motivate the sportsmen and women as they entered the new year.
She urged the Ekiti state Athletes to keep faith in the administration of governor Kayode Fayemi whom she said had scored laudable points in the quest to development sports in the state.
The Sports Council boss also commended the athletes for their maturity and understanding while awaiting the fulfilment of the governor’s promise noting that the Ekiti state governor was one of the few in the country who had hosted and rewarded outstanding athletes in 2021.
She thanked the governor for also considering the likes of Bamidele Ajayi who won gold for Nigeria at the World Under 20 Athletics Championship in Kenya last year and few other athletes who did Ekiti state proud at some other sporting competitions in 2021.
Hon. Osetoba urged the athletes to keep up the good job, continue to train, remain focused on their Sporting career and avoid all forms of social vices and distractions.
The Sports Council boss who thumbed up Ekiti state coaches and other staff for their cooperation in 2021 called for more cooperation in 2022 with a promise to also pay attention to their plights and yearnings.
