The alleged report of a Clash between the personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police in Owerri, Imo state, trending on the social media, has been described as false.
This is contained in a statement jointly issued by the Nigerian Army, thirty four Attilery Brigade, Obinze and the Nigerian Police, Imo state command.
The statement describes the story as malicious, and a calculated attempt to create the impression of a lack of synergy among the security agencies in Imo State.
It notes that the law enforcement and security agencies in Imo State will continue to synergise in the effort to bring perpetrators of crime to book, assuring that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that law abiding citizens live without fear or intimidation by miscreants, who are bent on causing instability in the state.
The statement signed by the Police public Relations Officer, Imo state Command Micheal Abatam and the acting assistant director, Army public relations, Joseph Baba Akubo, further calls on all law abiding citizens to ignore the monday sit at home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB and its affiliate, the Eastern Security Network, whose members have continuously used falsehood and threat on law abiding citizens.
It stresses that security agencies in the state will continue to discharge their Constitutional mandate and ensure lives and properties are protected.
