FG LIFTS RESTRICTIONS ON EMIRATES AIRLINES AND NEW VARIANT IN S/A

TEN MONTHS BAN ON EMIRATES AIRLINES OPERATIONS IN NIGERIA HAS BEEN LIFTED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

THIS FOLLOWS A DIPLOMATIC RESOLUTION BETWEEN NIGERIA AND THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES OVER ALL ENCUMBRANCES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BAN OF FLIGHT ACTIVITIES BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES
MEMBERS OF THE PRESIDENTIAL STREERING COMMITTEE OF COVID 19 AND THE MINISTER OF AVIATION DISCLOSED THAT PASSENGERS FROM NIGERIA CAN NOW FLY DIRECT TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATE.

ON THE NEW COVID -19 VARIANTS RECENTLY FOUND IN SOUTH AFRICA, THE TECHINICAL HEAD OF PSC ON COVID -19 DR MUKTAR MUHAMMAD SAYS, NIGERIA WILL TAKE NECESSARY STEPS TO INCREASE SURVIELLANCE NOT ONLY FOR ARRIVING PASSENGERS FROM SOUTH AFRICA BUT SEVEN OTHER COUNTRIES WHERE THE NEW VARIANTS HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED.

AVIATION CORRESPONDENT EMMANUEL AYINMIRO REPORTS THAT THE COMMITTEE FURTHER SAYS SCIENCETISTS ARE STILL STUDYING THE NEW VARIANT FROM SOUTH AFRICA.
