Abuja: Court of Appeal on Atiku’s appeal seeking nullification the election of President Buhari’s election

The Court of Appeal Abuja has adjourned till February 22, 2022 hearing in the appeal seeking to nullify the election of President Muhammadu Buhari’s election and swear in Abubakar Atiku, who came second in the 2019 election as president.

The three-member panel of justices presided by Justice Peter Ige directed proper service of court papers on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Buhari.The civil society had filed the appeal challenging the judgement of the high court which dismissed its earlier suit, where it contended that President Buhari’s personal affidavit sworn to on November 24, 2014 at the FCT High Court Abuja in support of his personal particulars 
contained a false statement under oath.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has arraigned the former Vice Chancellor of Federal University Gusau, Professor Magaji Garba before Justice Maryam Hassan Aliyu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Jabi Abuja.
He was arraigned on a five count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and forgery. He was also alleged to have extorted 3 billion naira from a contractor on the pretext that the contract for the award of perimeter wall fencing of the University would awarded to him.
