Insecurity:Anambra Governorship will hold, INEC Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has expressed worries over the escalating security situation ,ahead of the
Governorship election,
in Anambra State.

To this end ,in order to provide a secured environment for the exercise, the inter-agency consultative committee on election security is reviewing its strategies.

INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood yakubu has however expressed optimism that no amount of threat will deter the commission from conducting the election.

According to INEC chairman, “November 6 Anambra Governorship Election will proceed as scheduled despite the deteriorating security situation in the State”

“Available intelligence revealed that the intention of those attacking its offices and other public institutions in the State is to ensure that the Governorship Election does not hold”
He warmed that should INEC again lose vital materials and facilities, the ongoing preparations for the election will be adversely affected
