The Speaker House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila has urged the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission to ensure equity and fairness in the planned review of revenue allocation in the country.
Gbajabiamila in an interaction with management of the commission, said the National assembly will support amendment to the RMAFC act adding that all stakeholders should be involved.
Chairman of the Commission Elias Mbam says the review is necessary because a lot has changed since 1992 when the last review was done.
Also, the house of Representatives says federal governments interest in diversifying the economy may not achieve desired outcomes due to imbalance in the import to export ratio.
This is as a result of alleged extortions and illegal charges imposed on air cargo billed for export.
The house has therefore instituted an investigation to identify all issues affecting air freight services, after the matter was raised by Deputy minority leader Toby okechukwu.
The house noted that Nigeria’s agro allied market potential is worth more than two hundred and fifty billion naira, but local exporters are abandoning the business due to alleged official bottlenecks.
It also expressed concern that the imbalance on import to export is eighty seven to thirteen.
