The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate an alleged insertion in the security tips section of the National Youth Service Corp hand book for corps members informing them to contact family members when kidnapped for ransom.
In adopting a motion from the house minority leader Ndudi Elumelu, the house expressed concern on the said advisory to Corp members, alleged to have been inserted in the pamphlet.
While urging authorities to put in place adequate measures to ensure safety of Corp members, the house mandated the committee on youth development to investigate the said insertion of item sixty five subsection E, in the security tips section.
Two establishment bills were passed during plenary.
These are the bill to establish Nigerian Maritime Security Trust fund and the bill to establish Nigerian Council for Social Work Practitioners.
The House of Representatives has also named a seven-man conference committee to work with the Senate to harmonise grey areas in the Electoral Act amendment bill passed by both chambers before their summer break.
Members of the Committee include Akeem Adeyemi, who will lead the team; James Abiodun Faleke (APC, Lagos); Aisha Dukku (APC, Gombe); Blessing Onuh (APC, Benue); Nyima Idem (PDP, Akwa Ibom); Chris Azubogu (PDP, Anambra) and Abdullahi Kalambaina (APC, Sokoto).
The Conference Committee is to work with the Senate Committee, which was constituted on resumption of plenary to perfect the Electoral Act and get it ready for Presidential assent.
