House calls for action to arrest cholera spread

The House of Representatives has urged the federal ministry of health and related agencies to step up efforts in arresting the spread of cholera in Jigawa state and other parts of the country.
In response to a motion raised by representative Abubakar Makki, the house expressed concern on the death toll recorded since the outbreak of cholera in jigawa and other states in the country.
The lawmakers stressed that inview of devastating effect of the health challenge on communities, there is need for coordinated efforts, especially in rural areas.
Meanwhile, House speaker Femi gbajabiamila has urged journalists to desist from what he described as yellow and uninspiring journalism which thrives on mischief.
The Speaker was reacting to reports from some media who quoted him out of context in his welcome address from recess to house members delivered at plenary Wednesday
