Governor Bello Mohammad of Zamfara State has applauded the Federal Government for the immediate deployment of Rapid Response Troops to fight the resurgence of Armed banditry in the State.
The Governor made the remarks while granting audience to the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto and Commander Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Daji, Major General Uwem Bassey who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Gusau.
He expressed confidence that the measure will tremendously reinforce the concerted effort to bring to an end the protracted security challenges bedeveling the state.
The Governor however emphasized the need for enhanced synergy between the Military and other security Agencies for the success of the Government renewed commitment to securing the state.
The General officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto who doubles as Commander Joint Task Force North West of the Operation Hadarin Daji, Major General Uwem Bassey appreciated the Zamfara State Government for its support to the various Military Operations in the North west geopolitical zone describing the gesture as a morale booster.
A statement issued by Press Secretary to Zamfara State Governor, Jamilu Iliyasu says the GOC’s visit served as a forum for the review of factors largely considered responsible for the recent upsurge in Banditry and spate of kinapping across the state and how to effectively deal with the situation.
