COURT ADJOURNS SUIT BY SUNDAY IGBOHO’S ASSOCIATES.

THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT SITTING IN ABUJA HAS ADJOURNED A SUIT FILED BY 12 ASSOCIATES OF YORUBA NATION AGITATOR, SUNDAY ADEYEMO ALSO KNOWN AS SUNDAY IGBOHO, CHALLLENGING THEIR DETENTION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SERVICES.

THE COURT, ON THURSDAY, TOOK THE DECISION TO ADJOURN TILL MONDAY BECAUSE THE DSS COULD NOT PRODUCE THEM AS EARLIER ORDERED BY THE COURT.

JUSTICE OBIORA EGWUATU WHILE TAKING NOTE OF DSS’ OBSERVATION OF DISCREPANCIES IN THE NAMES OF THE 12 PERSONS, ORDERED THAT THEIR LAWYER BE GRANTED ACCESS TO THEM IN CUSTODY.

JUSTICE EGWUATU HAD ALSO ORDERED THE DSS TO SHOW CAUSE WHY THE IGBOHO’S AIDES SHOULD NOT BE ADMITTED TO BAIL.

RECALL THAT THE DETAINED AIDES INSTITUTED A SUIT AGAINST THE DSS AND ITS DIRECTOR-GENERAL, YUSUF BICHI, FOLLOWING THEIR ARREST AND DETENTION ON JULY 1, AFTER THE DSS’ RAIDED OF IGBOHO’S RESIDENCE IN THE SOKA AREA OF IBADAN, OYO STATE.

AT THE LAST ADJOURNED DATE, THE APPLICANTS’ COUNSEL, MOVED HIS EX PARTE MOTION PRAYING THE COURT FOR AN ORDER “ COMPELLING THE RESPONDENTS TO PRODUCE THE APPLICANTS” TO ENABLE THE COURT “INQUIRE INTO THE CIRCUMSTANCES CONSTITUTING GROUNDS OF THEIR ARREST AND DETENTION” SINCE JULY 1, AND WHERE IT SEEMS FIT GRANT APPLICANTS BAIL.
