Ekiti Police Command Refutes Claim of Selling Passengers to Kidnappers

The Ekiti State Police Command has refuted the Claim of Selling Passengers to Kidnappers describing such os mischievous Imagination of pathological liars

In a press release issued by the command’s PRO, Abutu Sunday ,says it noticed a mischievously fabricated story trending on the social media that the driver of a black Bus with registration number KPA116LG (Kogi State) sold his passengers numbering eighteen to a group of kidnappers along Ita-Ore road in Ekiti State and that the same driver was arrested by the Police and is in custody at Ijamo Ilesa, Osun State.

The command described such as untrue and implored members of the public to disregard the information as it was only coined and spread by some enemies of our society whose sole job is to cause unnecessary apprehension.

Sale Of Passengers To Kidnappers In Ekiti: A Mischievous Imagination Of Some Pathological Liars.

The Ekiti State Police Command has noticed a mischievously fabricated story trending on the social media that the driver of a black Bus with registration number KPA116LG (Kogi State) sold his passengers numbering eighteen(18) to a group of kidnappers along Ita-Ore road in Ekiti State and that the same driver was arrested by the Police and is in custody at Ijamo Ilesa, Osun State.

The Command hereby implores members of the public to disregard the information as it is far from the truth but only coined and spread by some enemies of our society whose sole job is to cause unnecessary apprehension in the Society.

To keep the record straight, on the 19/07/2021 at about 1145hrs, an accident occurred in Efon Alaye and on getting to the scene, the said driver stopped and his passengers numbering eighteen alighted to rescue the victims of the accident. According to the driver, he got tired at a point and drove off with his passengers’ luggage, leaving them behind. He was accosted and arrested by the personnel of Ijamo Ilesa division, Osun State, upon a tip off from Efon Alaye Division. He was subsequently handed over to Efon Alaye Divisional Police Headquarters being the jurisdiction where the incident occurred.

The passengers have all given their statements and have been allowed to proceed with their journey and their luggage released to them on bonds. Meanwhile, the driver is currently in custody for further investigation.

The Command therefore, calls on everyone to disregard the false information, adding that it was mischievously intended to cause rancor and undue apprehension in the Society.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, *CP TUNDE MOBAYO,* while imploring members of the public to always verify the source and veracity of every information they receive especially through the social media, warns against fake and unverified formulation, publication and spread of information that could be detrimental to the peace of our dear Society.
