Thirteen officers pay supreme price, Fighting Banditry in Zamfara State

 

The Zamfara State Police Command has reaffirmed its determination to sustain the ongoing operations against the activities of bandits and other criminal elements terrorizing the State.

To this end, the command has launched a manhunt against armed bandits who ambushed some Police operatives in Kurar Mota village of Bungudu Local Government Area of the State.

A statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Shehu Muhammad says the attack occurred on Sunday 18th July, 2020 when the Police Mobile operatives deployed in the area were responding to a distress call with regards to an attempt by bandits to attack some nearby communities.

According to the Statement, the personnel who ran into the ambush exhibited resilience and gallantry by engaging the hoodlums, an effort that deterred the bandits from attacking the communities.

Thirteen of the personnel however paid the supreme price and some others injured while the bandits on their part suffered heavy casualties.

The Statement further says special Anti – Banditry Operations are ongoing with a view to tracking down the assailants.

Meanwhile, Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Rabiu has visited the injured Police men at the Hospital where he reaffirmed that the unfortunate incident would not discourage the officers from discharging their responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizenry.
