NDLEA ARRESTS ANAMBRA DRUG KINGPIN, RECOVERS 548,000 TRAMADOL TABLETS

THE NIGERIAN DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY HAS ARRESTED AN ANAMBRA DRUG KINGPIN AND RECOVERED 548,000 TRAMADOL TABLETS.

THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED WITH THE DRUGS PACKAGED AS TARKADOL WEIGHING 302.500 KILOGRAMS RECOVERED FROM HIS WAREHOUSE AT MARYLAND ESTATE IN OYI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF THE STATE.

PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION ESTABLISHED THAT TARKADOL IS A BRAND OF TRAMADOL THAT HAS JUST BEEN INTRODUCED INTO THE MARKET TO EVADE ATTENTION.

IT WAS PROVEN TO CONTAIN 225MG DRUG, MANUFACTURED IN INDIA AND SMUGGLED INTO NIGERIA WITHOUT NAFDAC NUMBER OR CERTIFICATION.

AN EX CONVICT A NOTORIOUS INTERSTATE DRUG DEALER, GODIYA LINUS, BASED IN TARABA WAS ALSO ARRESTED FOR SUPPLYING NARCOTICS IN NUMAN AREA OF THE STATE. SIMILARLY, ONE MOHAMMED ALI WAS NABBED AT LAU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF TARABA STATE FOR SUPPLYING ILLICIT SUBSTANCES
