ROAD ACCIDENT KILLS FIVE, 4 CRITICALLY INJURED ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

AT LEAST FIVE PASSENGERS HAVE BEEN REPORTEDLY KILLED WHILE FOUR OTHERS ARE IN CRITICAL CONDITIONS FOLLOWING A ROAD ACCIDENT ON THURSDAY MORNING ALONG MOWE/IBAFO AXIS OF THE LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY.

A STATEMENT BY THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER OF THE OGUN STATE TRAFFIC COMPLIANCE AND ENFORCEMENT AGENCY BABATUNDE AKINBIYI SAYS THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE DRIVER OF A TOYOTA BUS LOADED WITH NINE PASSENGERS WAS TRYING TO MANEUVER A BROKEN DOWN TRUCK ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY BUT ALLEGEDLY GOT HIS STEERING LOCKED AND SUBSEQUENTLY RAMMED INTO THE TRUCK.

THE STATEMENT ADDS THAT THE INJURED HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO AN UNDISCLOSED HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION WHILE THE BODIES OF THE DECEASED VICTIMS HAVE ALSO BEEN DEPOSITED AT A PRIVATE MORGUE IN THE AREA.

ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT, WRECKAGE OF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CLEARED OFF THE ROAD TO RESTORE FREE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON THE EVER – BUSY LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY
