The Federal Government says it will continue to come down hard on manufacturers of substandard products towards improving lives of Nigerians through standards and make the country stand tall among comity of nations.
The minister of industry,trade and investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo gave the indication at the inauguration of the standard organisation of Nigeria,Ekiti state office and laboratory complex,in Ado Ekiti.
Before now Nigerians have been facing challenges of substandard products,a situation that had negative effects on their social economic wellbeing and the Inauguration of the ultra modern office and laboratory complex ,will no doubt ensure that remote areas get easy access to a laboratory to test their products and as well ensure that Nigerian products meet the quality for exportation.
The minister explained that in the past , lives of thousands of Nigerians have been cut short due to substandard and life threatening products, adding that the federal government’s commitment towards building a nation free of substandard products, imported or manufactured locally is yielding results.
Adebayo restated the commitments of Federal Government towards ensuring standardization of products and services in the country and urged staff of SON to make judicious use of the facilities and step up their campaign against substandard good and services.

Mallam Farouk Salim noted that this will address the infrastructural deficit as it is a confirmation of the determination to provide a conducive environment adding that the inauguration of the office complex signifies the resolve of the SON,to improve its services by bringing it closer to the people in the area of conformity assessment and laboratory testing of products to ensure standard.
He said with the new facilities people of Ekiti State would have access to quality goods and services nothing that producers of substandard goods would be identified and dealt with according to the law.
Farouk said part of the commitments to end substandard goods was putting up befitting modern laboratories across the Nation so as to give room for proper examination of products.
The Ekiti state Governor Dr.Kayode Fayemi described the office complex as a strategic Federal Government presence which will add value to the Economic development of the state and as well enhance standard
The Governor explained that the full presence of the Organization would complement the Economic Plan of the state government, urging companies and business owners to establish in Ekiti and promised his administration’s resolve to partner SON in achieving standard of products and services in the state.
The Governor wants industrialists of various levels to make use of the opportunity to enhance Economic viability and boost Economy.
The Oluyin of lying Ekiti Oba Adeola Ajakaye and the Ewi of Ado Ekiti Oba Rufus Adejugbe who was representated by Chief Olusola Olanrewaju expressed delight that the office will add value to the state Economy and as well improve product qualities and appreciated Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo for his efforts towards putting up the edifice in Ekiti state.
