The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, Ekiti State Chapter has called on the state government to expedite action on plans to host the athletes who represented the state at the last National Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo State.
Rising from its monthly meeting in Ado Ekiti, SWAN noted that organising a reception for the athletes would serve as morale booster for them as it would be an indication that they have not been forgotten having done the state proud at the National event.
The body of Sports Writers also commended the state Tennis Association under the Chairmanship of Mr Yemi Owoseni for being one of the few active and virile Sports Associations in the state.
SWAN also praised one of Ekiti state governor’s aides, Hon. Adedeji Adesokan popularly known as Jaruu for his financial and material support towards Ekiti United football club.
Equally acknowledged and commended was a football coach with Agbonna FC of Okemesi Ekiti, Joshua Fayese for his dedication and commitment to the game as he was always giving his best from the touch line despite his physical disability.
Members who were at the SWAN meeting for the month of June unanimously emphasised the need for unity among members and avoidance of divisive tendencies.
Ideas and thoughts were shared on some of the initiatives of the association in weeks to come.
