FUOYE to add additional Faculties,signs MoU with Federal Poly.Offa

The vice Chancellor,Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) Professor Sunday Fasina has said the institution will have additional Faculties before the end of the year, 2021.

The Vice Chancellor gave the indication on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University and the Federal Polytechnic Offa Kwara State.

“We will mount the two Programmes in Faculty of Mass Communication and Faculty of Informatics and Robotics”

Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina said that there are several other areas of collaboration between the two institutions, not only on Top-Up and Conversion program. He cited Staff Exchange Programmes, research collaborations, as part of areas of synergy the two institutions can engage in.

The Vice Chancellor, said that the MoU has been in his mind for long and disclosing further that FUOYE will now be having 32,000 students undergoing 64 Academic programmes cut across eleven faculties of the Africa’s fastest growing university.

He further explained that he achieved 100 projects in his first 100 days in office, that is, one project one day, noting that all printings in the university will now be done in-house.

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr Olatunji , Lateef Ademola who came on the courtesy visit along with 8 other Polytechnic Officials, promised to abide by the spirit and letters of agreement signed today saying, “I am particularly overwhelmed with joy that the process of affiliation we have started for so long, has come to fruition.

Speaking further he says, “Human capital development is essential for development and this synergy is a good process to start this goal”

Listing the profile of his institution, Dr Olatunji explained that the “Federal Poly Offa is the most sought after Polytechnic in Nigeria according to Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) records; the first institution of learning to commence Computer Technology studies in Nigeria adding also that students elections are conducted by electronic voting in his institution”.

Dr Olatunji also revealed that his Polytechnic is the first institution that engaged in research of sweet potatoes for the production of bread.

The Top Up and Conversion programme of FUOYE is an academic programme to upgrade graduates of Higher National Diploma (HND) to Bachelor degree of the university. Scholars who are stuck with third class degrees or pass and need to proceed for higher degrees may also use the opportunity of the programme to upgrade the quality of their degree.

Top Up and Conversion Studies are conducted through Federal Polytechnics across the country especially in South Western States and now Kwara State.
Among the Federal Polytechnics that have earlier signed the MoU are: Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State; Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu, Lagos State; Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State; The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State; Best Solution Polytechnic, a private polytechnic based in Akure, Ondo State and many more.
