Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has said the attacks on the Commission facilities across the country could undermine the conduct of the next general elections.
Professor Yakubu made the observation at an emergency meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners across the country held in Abuja.
The lNEC Boss said the attacks are no longer freak events but appear to be quite orchestrated and targeted at INEC, adding that the acts are of unjustifiable aggression which may undermine the Commission’s capacity to organise elections and dent the nation’s electoral process.
Two offices of the INEC in Ebonyi State have been also attacked and set ablaze by unidentified hoodlums today Wednesday.
The affected offices are located in Ezza North and Ebonyi Local Government Area of the State.
