Combined health workers unions at the Ekiti state university Teaching Hospital Ado Ekiti EKSUTH are agitating for the better welfare ,and appealing to the state Governor Dr.Kayode Fayemi to accede to their demands by effecting the payment of their various outstanding entitlements.
The affected labour bodies, are Medical and Health Union of Nigeria, Senior staff Association of universities teaching hospitals, research institute and associated institutions, the National Association of nurses and midwives as well as the
National union of allied health professionals.
The memebers of the health workers union who have been on strike for over two weeks lamented that concerned Authorities are yet to accede to their demands saying several efforts efforts and steps have been taken for their demands to be met,but which are to no avail.
The chairman,Medical and Health Union of Nigeria, EKSUTH chapter,Marry Olaiya,the chairman Senior staff Association of universities teaching hospitals, research institute and associated institutions,Tony Arigbede, Chairman,National Association of nurses and midwives, Comfort Monday and the chairman,National union of allied health professionals Omotola Farotimi expressed worries that despite several efforts and consultations with the Executive and the legislative arm,there have not been positive response.
The Labour Unions who said they were not unaware of the effects of their industrial actions,on the populace and the health system in the state said urgent consideration of their demands by concerned Authorities would help in addressing the situation.
The unions acknowledged the state Governor Dr.Kayode Fayemi for given infrastructure in the hospital a face lift, and said their welfares should be considered and be given priority to make life easy for them.
They also prayed to God for divine Interventions as they raised thier voices in praise to God.
