A total of 28 goals was recorded in the seven matches played on Match Day 1 (boys category) at the Professor Akin Oyebode U15 Football Competition, on Sunday April 18th, 2021.
Oye LFC defender, Tosin Bello scored a hatrick for his team in the 5-1 annihilation of Ijero at the Elo High School football field in Ayetoro Ekiti.
At the same venue, Efon U-15 team thumped Ekiti South West by three unreplied goals, the same scoreline the powerful attacking trio of Kehinde Adegbuyiro (with two goals) , Hameed Usman and Basit Salahudeen buried the boys from Moba LG.
8 goals were also scored in the two games at St.John in Ise Ekiti with Gbonyin breezing past Emure with a commanding 4-1 victory before Ikere fell 1-2 to Ikole.
The final game of the day saw Ado squeeze past Ekiti East by a slim 2-1 win in the lone game prosecuted in Ikole Township Stadium.
The screening of the boys to ensure adherence to the U-15 age required for the competition took some coaches by surprise as many of their players were dropped, a controversy expected to linger for the early part of the week.
