Delta emerges winners of Edo 2020 NSF, to host next edition.

The curtain was drawn on the 20th National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020 on Wednesday with Defending champions Team Delta retaining the top spot on the medals table with 158 gold,116 silver and 110 medals,making it 384 medals to pip the hosts Edo State who won 341 medals.

The event ended in a grandstyle with a colourful closing ceremony wirh live musical performances that added colour to the event at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin city.

Team Edo finished with 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze medals,Team Bayelsa was a distant third with 56 gold, 55 silver and 58 bronze medals. Sokoto and Taraba States were at the bottom of the medals table with just three and two bronze medals respectively.

Meanwhile, Delta State will play host to the next edition of the Festival in 2022 as announced by the Minister of Youth and sports Development Sunday Dare while declaring closed the 20th edition of the Festival.

He ongratulated Delta State for emerging the overall winner of the Games of the 2020 National sports Festival. “I’m glad to note that the Federal Government received bids to host the 21st edition of the National sports Festival in 2022 from 6 states namely: Delta, Ebonyi, , Imo, Kaduna, Kano and Ogun.
