National Sports Festival Day 5: Team Ekiti continues search for more medals.

As the national Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020 enters Day 5 today, Ekiti state has two bronze medals to it’s credit, though there hopes to win more medals in the coming days.

In boxing today, Ekiti lost to Lagos in the 64kg , while in judo Loveth Akinsumoye of Ekiti state won her first in the 78kg to progress to the next stage of the game.

In tennis, fast rising Ekiti born player, Daniel Adeleye qualified for the round of 16 after edging out his counterpart from Kaduna state.

Adeleye will now face Canada based player, Micheal Ambrose representing Kaduna state at the National Sports festival tomorrow Thursday.

The hopes of Ekiti state to win a medal in tennis was further brightened following the victory of Esther Oni over her Imo state counterpart .

Esther Oni has now qualified for the quarter final of the girls singles at the biennial event.

Meanwhile, Oyo state has won her first gold medal at the sports fiesta in judo having won eight medals earlier.

Both Bayelsa and Delta are still dominating on the medals table having won several medals in swimming and taekwondo.

Actions continue tomorrow at various events both at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium and at the University of Benin sports centers.
