The Ekiti State Handball Coach, Kayode ldowu has said the just concluded National Under 18/21 Handball Championship held at Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba, Lagos has again improved the skills of the state Handball players
Coach Idowu expressed delight that with the experience and exposure, the championship has further boost the confidence of the players ahead of future competition , saying the coaching crew will work on the lapses identified in the ladies games at the championship to perfect their skills.
The captain of the Team Falowo Nifemi said there is room for improvement on the part of her teammates to do better in the future championships and wants Government and well to do people of the state to assist the state Handball teams through adequate logistics and motivation for them to rub shoulders high with their counterparts in other states.
Ekiti State under 18 Girls representated the state at the championship,which has participants from various states of the federation.
The Team which had a good fights from the beginning of the championship had encounter with opponents from Lagos, Osun and Plateau states.
The state ladies however lost out to Lagos in the third place by 34-15.
Ekiti Under under 18 girls players are Falowo Nifemi, Iloha Mercy,Idoko Rita,Peter Grace,Olajide Precious,Oluwalade Phebe, Ayogun Success,Adeleke Teniola, Ojo Blessing,Akinola Gift,Okosi Gift ,Ofunkile Timileyin,Otubo Maryrose,Ariyo Nannah,Fagbade Adeola,Agunbiade Esther, Olarewaju Barakat and Aromolaran Yemisi
At the National Handball
championship Bayelsa emerged the champions of the Under 18 female category, while Lagos won the under 18 Male category
In the under 21 male and female category, Lagos emerged the championship
