All the athletes and officials that have been selected to represent Ekiti state at the 2021 National Sports Festival in Edo state have undergone the compulsory Covid19 tests.

The tests which took place at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti started in the morning and could not be concluded until afternoon as the medical personnel who came from the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital-EKSUTH diligently varied out their duties with appropriate advice to each member of the state contingent con how to ensure safety from the dreaded disease considering the influx of people at the national Sports Festival.

Though there palpable apprehension on the side of the athletes and officials, the processes for the testing was stress-free and held in a conducive atmosphere.

Every participant in the National Sports Festival have been directed to undergo the compulsory Covid19 tests at least 74 hours to departure, hence the compliance in Ekiti state as it is done in every other states of the federation.

The National Sports Festival which had been postponed on a number of occasions before now has been fixed to begin tomorrow (Friday) with the arrival of contingents from various states of the federation while actions begin in various events on April 6.

Ekiti state is expected to compete in at least 20 sports with about 90 athletes representing the state.
