Management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has sought the support of the general public , particularly members of the transport associations in Ekiti State on the FUOYE subsidized transport system which kicked off on March 1 courtesy of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina’s gracious approval.
Some members of transport unions in Ado-Ekiti had attacked the branded school bus of the institution on Monday with a wrong impression that it was picking up members of the public who were supposed to board their own commercial vehicles.
The statement reads
“The attention of the Management has been drawn to an incident that happened this morning at the Ayeni garage in Adeun area of Ado-Ekiti-, Ekiti State capital, which was a sudden blockage of the way of the FUOYE school bus which had, as usual, stopped to pick members of staff and students of the institution.
It was gathered that some members of the transport associations in Ekiti made forceful attempt to stop the FUOYE bus with the erroneous impression that it was picking up passengers that were supposed to board their commercial vehicles.
We wish to categorically state that the school bus, branded with the inscriptions of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, is only picking members of staff as well as students of our institution and not just any member of the public. The arrangement by the Management to provide subsidized transport system for FUOYE staff members and students was made possible from March 1, by the Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina’s led administration as an incentive to alleviate the burden of transportation hitherto being suffered by our staff members and students.
Members of the public and all relevant stakeholders are enjoined to take note of the foregoing clarification and treat our branded school bus and buses, (as more will soon be added to the one available presently) with due respect.
FUOYE as an upwardly mobile Federal tertiary institution is well disposed to maintainng peace, orderliness and tranquility with the members of the public and other organizations.
- We wish all and sundry the best and always look forward to having healthy and fruitiful relationship with everyone and all organisations.
