The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti and Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM,Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE I has commiserated with the Governor of Ekiti State,His Excellency,Dr Kayode Fayemi ,the entire people of Ekiti state and the people of Ilawe Ekiti in particular, on the passing of one of the forerunners in the agitation for the creation of Ekiti State, Chief, Dr.Bode Olowoporoku.
According to a release by the Media Adviser to the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti,Chief Ajibade Olubunmi the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers noted that Dr Olowoporoku who held several chieftaincy titles including the Olumofin of Irorin quarters, Ilawe Ekiti used all resources within his powers including financial and human to champion the agitation for the creation of Ekiti state from the Old Ondo State .”As a politician, Dr Olowoporoku acted as the colossus among other people to actualise the creation of Ekiti State aside from making positive contributions to the people of the state and his immediate community, Ilawe Ekiti” , Oba Alabi said.
The Alawe therefore, called on Governor Kayode Fayemi to immortalise the late frontline politician by naming a monument after him in the state.
The Chairman of the State Council if Obas srated that the monument would serve as remembrance of the good deeds of the former Federal minister of science and Technology as well as encourage others to be tenacious in their agitation for good things for their people.
The Oba prayed that God will give the immediate family of Dr Olowoporoku the fortitude to bear the loss. ” May the soul of the late Ilawe- born politician rest in perfect peace”; the monarch prayed.
