Senate on Armed forces Service Commission Bill.

The Senate has rejected the bill for an Act to establish the Armed forces Service commission.
The synoosis of the bill sponsored by the Minority leader of the Senate Enyinnaya Abaribe seeks to give effect to Section 219 of the 1999 Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as amended and to ensure that the composition of Service Chiefs reflects federal character principle.
However, some Senators expressed contrary view, they argued that the process for the appointment of service chiefs has already been provided for in the Constitution and any attempt to change it at this point in time will be diversionary and might interfere with professionalism.
