Ekiti United fc on Wednesday bowed to yet another defeat away from home in the five week old Nigeria National football league-NNL 2021 as they lost by a lone goal to a well branded Vandrezzer fc of Lagos.
The only goal of the game came in the 21st minute as the long range low drive aided by the wind beat Ekiti United goalkeeper, Adewale Makanjuola.
Undaunted Ekiti United attempted to give it back to their host in their coin with a couple of onslaughts immediately after conceding but mother luck was not on their side as a goal bound strike by Azeez Yusuf slightly went agonizingly wide.
Ekiti United main striker, Kamoru Adebari and Kehinde Olajuyin could not find their feet on a couple of occasions while Dayo Owoniyi, Chidi Martins and Julius Adeyanju did a yeoman’s job from the back to curtail the excesses of the strike force of Vandrezzer fc led by lanky Ekerette Udom
As usual, captain fantastic, Bello Babatunde was mercurial from the midfield with the backing of energetic Onyeka Nwaiwu and portable but talismanic Azeez Yussuf .
It took only 21 minute for the host team to strike the first and only shot that went into Ekiti United net.
Ekiti United quality delivery of tiki taka passes were applauded by the home fans but luck was not on their side as the much anticipated equalizer never came till the end of the match .
Ekiti United Goalkeeper, Adewale Makanjuola who came out with much better performance after the goal was injured in the second half and was replaced by Believe Imiete who had little threats from Vandrezzer fc attackers .
One nil, it ended in favour of Vandrezzer fc as Ekiti United again suffered a slim defeat it was in the two previous away matches vin the NNL.
The team is now on its way back to Ado Ekiti to rest for a day before embarking on the journey to Ilorin , Kwara state for the match against Osun United following the banishment of Osun United.
