27 inmates of Ado Ekiti Correctional Facility granted Amnesty

The twenty seven inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Facility,Ado Ekiti have been released by the Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daromla during his visit to the correctional centre.

The Chief judge also granted bail to seven other inmates awaiting trial in the centre including two females who benefited from the CJ amnesty.

Justice Ayodeji Daramola noted that the step was taken to decongest the correctional centre advising the released 34 inmates out of three hundred and eighty six awaiting trial inmates to obey the law of the state and desist from any act that could bring them back to the centre.

The chief judge who lamented the number of under age in the centre charged police officers to discharge their duties inline with the country’s constitution also expressed displeasure over the act of lawlessness of the operatives of the defunct SARs whom he accused of constituting menace to the public peace and order.

The controller of the Correctional centre,Alhaji Idris Abdulrasheed appreciated the Chief Judge and appealed to youth to be moderate in their conduct to avoid been arrested by law enforcement agencies.

The visit was the third in 2020 by the Chief Judge to the Correctional centre to decongest the centre.
