The 2020 annual Udiroko festival in Ado Ekiti will be devoid of its usual funfair due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Addressing newsmen at his place, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi the third said that the festival would be celebrated this year in low key on the 30th of this month as prayers would be held for Ado, Ekiti state and Nigeria.
Oba Adejugbe noted that the decision to celebrate in low key was to prevent the spread of covid-19 in the state and in compliance with the directive of the state government on the ban on large gatherings.
The monarch urged sons and daughters of Ado Ekiti to celebrate this year’s Udiroko in their respective homes.
Oba Adejugbe appealed to residentsof Ekiti State to maintain hygienic environment, ensure regular handwashing, use face masks, maintain physical distancing among other precautionary measures.
