The Benin Electricity Distribution Company has donated one thousand five hundred bags of rice and one thousand cartoons of noodles to Ekiti State Government to cushion the effect of the ongoing lockdown on residents of the state.
The donation by the BEDC it was gathered was part of measures to complement government’s efforts at providing palliatives for people of the state and also to cushion the effect of the lock down declared to echeck the spread of covid-19.
Recieving the food items at the Government House, Ado Ekiti, Governor Kayode Fayemi commended the power company for the corporate social responsibly at this crucial period.
Fayemi notes that the gesture would go along way to cushion the effect of covid 19 on residents of the state.
Represented by his Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Mr Bamidele Faparusi, Dr Fayemi promised that government would ensure even distribution of the food items to ameliorate the effect of covid 19 on people.
Presenting the items to the Ekiti state government, the Head of BEDC in Ondo and Ekiti, Mrs Funmi Labiyi said one thousand five hundred packs of five kg rice and one thousand cartoons of noodles were given to the state government to distribute to people to cushion the effect of covid 19.
Mrs Labiyi appealed to residents of the state to adhere strictly to social distancing, regular hand washing and avoid crowded.
