Ado Progressives Union in collaboration with Ado Ekiti Development Foundation have presented foodstuffs to the aged and vulnerable in Ado Ekiti to cushion the effect of the COVID 19 lockdown on them
The food items including Rice, Beans, Oil, noodles and other varieties were distributed to the beneficiaries in all the quarters in Ado Ekiti through the community chiefs.
The palliatives was supervised by the wife of the Ewi of Ado Ekiti Eyesorun Abosede Adejugbe and the Ado Local Government secretary, Chief Mrs Taye Omoyeni is aimed at cushioning the effect of the lockdown declared by the state government as parts of measures to check the spread of coronavirus otherwise known as Covid-19.
The food distribution was the second phase as the first phase having presented similar foodstuff to the aged a week ago
National President of Ado Progressive Union, Chief Ayoola Sarumi explained that the food items were procured from the donations made by sons and daughters of Ado Ekiti who are members of the two groups.
According to him, the food items were distribute to the people without any prejudice or preference for religious, political and cultural differences.
Also, National Vice President of the union, Chief Mrs Tosin Aluko, Secretary, Prince Toyin Akingbade and the Public Relations Officer of the group , Mr. Kolade Ogunsakin explained that the distribution will continue next week until Covid-19 is finally over.
Mr. Kingsley Adeogunmiloyo, leader of the Ado Development Foundation noted that the food stuff are important at this critical time to save many people whose means of livelihood have been affected by the lockdown.
He said the group cannot to fold it’s arms and allow people die of hunger, since they have the responsibly as a responsible indigenes of Ado Ekiti to assist our vulnerable persons pending the eradication of this deadly virus.
He expressed appreciation to the Eyesorun and other chiefs who assisted in providing the necessary data and statistics that enabled them to reach out to beneficiaries seamlessly.
Some beneficiaries who could not hide their feelings were dancing and singing praises to appreciate the two groups which have brought succour to them.
