Ekiti State House of Assembly has adjourned its plenary sittings indefinitely as part of precautionary measures against the spread of coronavirus.
The decision of the house followed a motion moved by the Leader of Government Business, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan during a plenary sitting in Ado Ekiti.
Hon. Aribisagan explained that it was important for the house to take every precautionary measure against the spread of the killer virus especially now that a case has been confirmed in the state.
The house also agreed to restrict movement of visitors into the assembly complex and maintain a single entry and exit point.
Reacting to the motion, some members of the house threw their weights behind the decision saying all hands must be on deck at this critical time to end coronavirus.
The speaker of the house, Mr Funminiyi Afuye urged members to embark on massive awareness on the various precautionary steps against the spread of the virus in their respective constituencies as a way of ending the scourge.
Mr Afuye urged members of the house to shun self medication and report any suspected case to the nearest health facilities.
Meanwhile the house has amended the Ekiti State Housing Corporation bill, submitted by the House Committee on Lands.
