Governor Fayemi pays Alaafin of Oyo homage at his palace

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has visited the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi in his palace.

The visit of the governor was sequel to the controversy that greeted his letter on some prominent Obas known as Pelupelu in Ekiti State asking them to explain their absence from the meeting of the council of Obas.

However the letter was misconstrued as a query and attempt to remove the affected monarchs a situation which generated mix reactions from members of the public.

In his reaction the Alafin wrote Fayemi where he advised him against attempt to disrespect the traditional institution.

24hours after Alaafin’s letter to the Governor it was countered by the chairman Ekiti State Traditional Council and signed by the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti Oba Adebanji Alabi.

In order to quench the brewing war, Governor Fayemi met with the Alafin where he gave background of the whole scenario and justified his action.

Fayemi affirmed that he has no intention to disrespect the traditional institution and neither was he planning to remove any monarch as speculated

Fayemi was warmly received by the monarch at his Oyo Palatial palace.
