Attaining the sustainable development goal six on sanitation and hygiene by 2030 can only be achieved through access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation with concerted efforts of every stakeholder in the country.
The Minister of water resources, Suleiman Adamu stated this while launching the open defecation Free roadmap and clean Nigeria: use of the toilet Campaign in Ado EKITI,Ekiti state capital.
The Minister of water resources who highlighted the importance of water and sanitation to socio-cultural development of any nation stressed the efforts of federal government for the implementation of “clean Nigeria” by 2025 for revitalization of water supply, sanitation and hygiene in Nigeria.
At the occasion,Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi said the roadmap is to accelerate the achievement of making open defecation free in Ekiti state through a strategy alignment with the federal government approach to eradication of open defecation and stir up ability to use toilet at him and public places.
Governor Fayemi appreciated the Federal Government effort promising the continued collaboration of the state to actualise the objective.
